Hello OUTbio Seattle Community,
July marks the first year of OUTbio Seattle. We founded the Seattle chapter of biotech’s biggest LGBTQ+ professional organization to empower LGBTQ+ professionals in the life sciences through networking, education, advocacy, career development, and peer support. Over the past year, our community has grown to number more than 260 professionals who have gathered over six events to build a brighter biotech for everybody. We look forward to sharing our top takeaways from the past year and future directions for OUTbio Seattle during a state of the organization webinar this coming October – stay tuned for more details.
And before Pride month grows too distant in our rearview mirror, join us in looking back at a few moments we’re still celebrating:
Puget Sound Business Journal honored OUTbio Seattle co-founder Michelle Briscoe in its 2024 Outstanding Voices program that recognizes the leaders lifting up our LGBTQ+ family in Seattle’s business community and beyond.
Michelle champions openness and inclusivity in her role as COO and CFO at Talus Bio and strives to make Seattle’s life sciences scene a safe, warm, and welcoming for LGBTQ+ professionals. We hope you’ll take a moment to say hello to Michelle at our events this summer and give her a well-deserved pat on the back!
OUTbio Seattle celebrated Pride with two dynamic events last month: Our resident early birds kicked off Pride on June 1st with coffee, bagels and a round of speed networking at Cecil Bacon Manor before heading up to Volunteer Park for Seattle Pride’s annual Pride in the Park. And we rounded out the month with a celebration of the diversity and strength of Seattle’s LGBTQ+ life science community at Dexter Yard with support from Monod Bio, Outpace Bio, Shape TX, and BioMed Realty. We have a few more events in store and open for registration, so keep scrolling and claim your spot!
